Just remembered that I spent the better part of at least a year doing stupid shit like this instead of writing the book I was supposed to be writing.

can anyone identify this book?
here is a close up of the cover.
Attention bookseller friends! If anyone can name a book by its blurry half-cover it’s you guys. Halp!
Based on the weird blankness of the back cover I’m going to say it’s a galley.
Please read Ruth Curry’s piece on how DRM on e-books hurts writers.
DRM doesn’t work, at least when it comes to preventing piracy. I had to remove DRM on my own book about a year ago (don’t ask) and while I can’t say it was exactly simple, it also didn’t take me long to do.
It’s true that most people don’t have the patience or inclination to try to crack DRM, but one point that I think a lot of people miss about digital piracy is that preventing most people from cracking your copy protection is meaningless. All it takes to make a book illegally available to everyone is for one person to crack it and torrent it or whatever; then the pirated version propagates itself.
The music industry pretty much gave up on DRM a long time ago— although not before my computer was ruined by the notoriously shady Sony DRM scheme, a tragedy which I will always associate with Cyndi Lauper— and I hope publishing figures it out soon too.
There is a tradition and if you go too far ahead of that tradition you’re going to confuse people and make them uncomfortable. If you hide the bathroom, everyone’s going to run around looking for them. And if you hide them too efficiently, someone’s just going to pee on the floor. And then everyone will leave.
Stephin Merritt on gay bars. He’s pretty correct you know. (via hman)
I don’t know about that; I’ve definitely been at gay bars where people were peeing on the floor and no seemed to mind at all.

Reminder: I spent a good part of last year creating a Tumblr repository of every one of Cassie’s many great outfits.
The E4 teen drama has been recommissioned for a special seventh run - made up of three films broken up into six parts - to be broadcast in 2013, Digital Spy can confirm.
Famous Skins characters from the past five years will appear in the ‘celebratory’ series.Nicholas Hoult (Tony), Kaya Scodelario (Effy), Jack O’Connell (Cook) and Luke Pasqualino(Freddie) are among those who could return.
“Channel 4 today confirmed that next year’s series of E4’s teen drama Skins will be its last,” the broadcaster said this evening.
“The new series will be a celebration of this truly iconic series, and will go to air in early 2013.”
Fuck Freddie and Cook. (Isn’t Freddie dead?) If we don’t see the triumphant return of Cassie there is no point at all.
